The product. If your website looks great, if your pictures look great, if the everything starts with the quality product looks great but the quality isn’t there to back it up, you’re not going to get very far, especially phone number library with a bike product like ours. And word of mouth, trust and customer experience are critical to a company, especially when you’re just starting out. It’s very expensive to attract new customers through digital marketing. While it can be expensive, one of the easiest ways to get your company off the ground, get your product off the ground is to develop word of mouth, and it’s basically free as long as you work hard to make sure you deliver or exceed your promises to your customers when they click the buy button.
Felix: When you started State everything starts with the quality Bicycle
Mehdi: We did have experience with importing and we knew what was going on in the bicycle industry. Most of the manufacturing was done overseas. So being able to navigate the supply chain, whether it was in Taiwan or spotify has acquired chartable and podsights, platforms related to podcast marketing China. We do use both of those supply chains at State Bicycle Company. That was really, really critical. It was great to have that experience, but in terms of marketing, all of the other businesses that I mentioned were also online businesses, so knowing some of the dos and don’ts and understanding what kind of revenue is good revenue and what kind of revenue is bad revenue.
For the furniture business that I mentioned
we were doing $1 million a year in revenue in the beginning, but there were times when our advertising budget was so bad that we spent money and even lost money for months because of high customer acquisition costs. So learning how to control costs and all of those things and how to best leverage certain marketing channels as you go about building a business was a great lesson that we learned before we alb directory started with State Bicycle, which is by far the longest running business that we’ve worked with.
