Who hasn’t ever realized that, just after hitting the “send” button, they hadn’t included the link to the call to action?

No one is safe from mistakes. Even the biggest accounts have sent email campaigns  with silly mistakes.

Most of these “mistakes” that we miss could have been avoided by using the boring – but powerful – test sending that all platforms offer so you can check your email before sending it to your entire contact list.

1- Forgotten or broken links

 

The error I presented as an example in my introduction is probably one of the biggest nightmares for marketers, especially when the goal of an email send is lead generation. That is why it is so important to check that all the links in our email are working: Does the page load correctly or does it give a 404 error? Similar to the dreaded “broken link” we have the “forgotten link”.

This is often the case when using an image as a call-to-action (CTA) button. Double-check that everything that is supposed to be linked is actually linked, such as the anchor text, CTA, social media follow/share icons, and images.

2- Grammatical spelling errors

3- Distorted images

 

How do your images look? Are they stretched or squashed? Pixelated? Too big? Did you remember to add alt text when you uploaded them? Check that your images are displaying the way you want them to and if not, adjust them.

Also check that the message looks the way you want it to when it arrives in an inbox. Sometimes we forget to put a space or we get. The text aligned wrong and a line break sneaks in where it shouldn. If you use dashes or periods to number, check that they appear correctly.

There are some email clients that do not handle bullets and sometimes we can get around this by using dashes or asterisks. Correct anything that looks wrong before sending the message to the entire list.

5- Problems with color
